ford about a mile up river from present day Laredo and
named it El Paso de Jacinto. This ford is also known as
"Old Indian Crossing". |

was visiting Revilla in late 1754. |

Townspeople and soldiers gather in Laredo's main plaza to
witness the city council's oath of Loyalty to newly
formed Mexican Constitution. |

Laredo's population actually decreased to 1698 from the
figure of 2052 in 1828. |

A party of 23 Texans march towards Laredo, but are met by
cavalvy from the garrison. The Texan's then retreated to
San Antonio after becoming aware of the strength of the
garrison. |

Capt. Richard A. Gillespe of the U.S. Army arrives in
Laredo to raise the Lone Star flag over Laredo's main
plaza. This event marks the beginning of Laredo as part
of the United States and the newly created county of
Nueces. |

Capt. Mirabeau Buonaprte Lamar arrives in Laredo from
Camargo with seventy five men. The ex-president of the
Republic of Texas declares marshal law and holds Laredo's
first elections under American rule. |

Webb county is formed from part of Nueces county. The
county is named in honor of James Webb, a close friend of
Lamar and holder of numerous offices in the Republic of
Texas. Webb county was the largest in south Texas and the
sixth largest in Texas. |

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo makes it official, Laredo was
now part of the U.S. |

Thirty three U.S. soldiers arrive from Ringgold Barracks
in Rio Grande City to establish Camp Crawford which later
became Fort McIntosh. |

Laredo officially incorporated as a town. |

Corpus Christi, Rio Grande and Narrow Gauge Railroad
