| Well It's been quite a while since the last update,
been very busy with the database and acquiring new research materials.
Important Note: I've started using Adobe Acrobat for some new pages. This
is a popular format used on the internet and allows readers to view pages as
they would any normal documents. It is especially for viewing large charts.
Readers can
download Adobe Acrobat reader if they don't already have it. Most
internet ready computers already have it. If you're not sure
click here to open a small PDF file.
1. Database Statistics have been updated. In
addition to offering the database on CD I plan to produce a Family
Book
containing all of the data in the database. Read more about the
Family Book and
view a couple of sample pages.
2. Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas pages contain new links to resources.
A similar page on Coahuila will follow.
3. I've updated my own Genealogy Site.
It now is a full site showing pedigree and the ability to navigate back and
forth.
4. I've added Ancestors of Jose Bernardo
Gutierrez de Lara (Ancestor Wall Chart in Adobe PDF). There is a
biography on Jose Bernardo on the Handbook of Texas Online website. I've
also added Descendants of Jose
Narciso Cavazos. He is the original grantee of the largest land grant in
Texas "San Juan de Carricitos."
5. I have created a Resources Page
in Adobe Acrobat format. The list of
books is currently 8 pages. This information will differ from the Bibliography page in that it will be
just the more comprehensive list of books and documents that relate to the
subject of this web site.

|
| I've updated my Links page and
added some new entries among them the Forums
on Genealogy.com. For all you readers just getting started I would
suggest using the Forums to post your questions. I do not have time to
reply to all emails and some information people give me is just too
general. If it's something I know of I will be happy to respond but in
order to reach the maximum amount of readers and researchers you should
try the forums. Forums are based on Location and Surnames. Check my Queries
and Links pages for links to these forums. |

|
| I have redesigned the Tamaulipas
and Nuevo Leon pages. In addition to redesigning
the pages I have added links under each town/settlement that will give you
additional resources. Now I am just getting started on this and as you all
might imagine there is a wealth of information available. I still have a
ways to go as this is a work in progress and I also still have to do the
same for Texas and Coahuila pages. Eventually the resources will include
printed materials as well. |

|
| The
Genealogy conference in McAllen went well and proved to be very
interesting. We had people from across the state and northern Mexico as
well as people from other states. For this update I am putting together a
list of resources based on location. For example, if you are looking for
something from a certain town or city I will try to list as many resources
as I can find for that location. Now instead of making seperate pages for
these resources I will incorporate them in the places pages such as South
Texas, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, and Coahuila. The types of resources will
include books, microfilm, web sites, and discussion boards etc. As is the
case with this web site this will be a work in progress. For an example of
the results check out the Tamaulipas page which
I have begin to work on recently. In
addition, I want to compile the most complete listing of books and
periodicals available that would be useful to our research. This list of
books would include books from libraries, books stores or any other
source. I have also added a new bio for Alberto del
Canto. |

|
| It's been a little over a week since my last update.
I have added a new page which might interest readers and it goes under the
Lineages pages and is titled Marcos Alonzo de la
Garza. Those of you with the last names Garza, de la Garza, Falcon,
and Treviņo may be interested. This lineage is in book format. You can
let me know what you think at stnem_genealogy@hotmail.com. I have included only 2 generations on the page
due to the number of descendants I have which at 2
generations is currently 80 descendants with individuals born up to mid
1600's. At 3 generations I currently have
405 descendants (late 1600's) and at 4 generations I have currently have 931
descendants (early 1700's) . In any case if you are interested, check out the
database
page which it currently has about 11,300
individuals. In any case I will still be offering much more interesting
reading so please check back often. Soon to come: a bio on Alberto del Canto similar to the one for
Marcos Alonzo de La Garza. |

| For those of you looking for ancestors based on specific
surnames I recommend the Ancestry
Message Boards. You can click on a specific surname and communicate
with other people looking for similar information. There are also message
boards available for a specific area. Here links to Texas
Counties the Texas
Genweb
and Mexico
Genweb
I will soon add a sort of index page for the database which will list
all the surnames in the database. The surnames will include both paternal
and maternal names so that you can get an idea as to which family the
listing is for. The database is over 11,200 and growing and I figure I
could give readers an idea as to the type of data it contains.

|
| I have changed the look of the site as well as add a couple
of new useful features. I have changed the queries page to an online
discussion forum where you can post questions to other readers as well
as myself. In addition I have also added a search
page which you can use to search by keyword through all the pages on
the site. I am working on re-doing the links
page. In the past few years I have noticed an increase of discussion
forums on just about any topic, areas, surnames etc. |

|
| I am in the process of redesigning the whole site, the look
and feel as well as adding much new content. In case you have visited this
site before you might know that I took a 5 year hiatus so to speak. Better
late than never, and although I don't have as much time as I would like to
work on this project, I do plan on dedicated at least several hours 2 or 3
days a week. For starters, I have a lot more room to play with here on
this web host and I'm throwing in a lot of maps and images which might be
interesting to readers. |

|
| We'll I'm back and glad to say I found a new host for my
site. From now on I have a permanent email address which is gguerra3@hotmail.com
In the past I had lost my email addresses because I lost or changed my
Internet Service Provider so I decided to go with a hotmail account
since that never changes. For now I am just posting the site to as a sub
web under the Villa San Agustin de Laredo
Genealogical Society web site. In the future I will probably invest in
a domain name. Give a me a few weeks and I will change the look of the
site, update all the query and links pages and add new information. |
