SCHOLARSHIPS

 

The VSALGS Scholarship will be given annually to a student who is an American citizen entering the first year of college.  He or she must have maintained a B average or better in high school.  Upon enrolling in a college or university, he/she must take a full load of 12 hours or more.  Additionally, he or she must be related to a VSALGS member who has been two years in the society.  The relationship could be a son, daughter, grandchild, niece or nephew.  

Applications will be available annually the first week of March and must be turned in by April 1st.  
The recipient will be selected by April 30th.

2012

Scholarship recipient Aubrey Nicole Woodruff

Aubrey graduated from McKinney Boyd High School in McKinney, Texas, with honors, received the Academic Excellence Award, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

She plans to attend the University of Alabama in the fall and major in the health science field with the goal of becoming a Physician's Assistant.  Aubrey is the granddaughter of VSALGS members Norma R. Salinas and step-granddaughter of webmaster Manuel G. Salinas.

2011

Scholarship recipient Kassandra Nicole Pena

Kassandra graduated from Alexander High School in Laredo with honors (GPA of 100.56)
and was also a member of the National Honor Society.

She plans to attend TAMIU in the fall and major in the health science field.
Kassandra is the granddaughter of VSALGS members Ruben & Virginia Pena.

Aric is a senior at United High School and plans to major in aeronautical engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station.
